The development of the shoe disinfection and retrieval mechanism was inspired by 3D printers and CNC machines. This add-on attaches to existing shoe racks, providing a convenient and cost-effective solution for users.

To use, simply place shoes on the carrying platform, which incorporates a UV light and disinfecting spray for sanitation after each wear. Shoe Rack Project

The retrieval process mimics a vending machine: each rack has a unique serial number, and users can input it via a small number pad on the rack or through an Android app. A timing belt mechanism is employed for linear movements, efficiently driving the x and y-axis to move the platform along both vertical and horizontal axes. This design ensures a user-friendly and hygienic experience, promoting safety and convenience in shoe storage.

The model employs a rack and pinion mechanism to drive the z-axis in order to move the platform with the shoes in and out of compartments in the shoe rack.

Softwares Used

Different members of the team used different software to make their iterations of the robot. While prototyping, our team used three types of CAD software:

  1. SOLIDWORKS 2. Autodesk Fusion 360 3. OnShape
